SunDial Bridge: One of California's 7 Wonders
In conjunction with the new 7 Wonders of the World determined on 7-7-07, the Sacramento Bee decided to have a contest to determine what their readers feel are the current Seven Wonders of California.
By confining choices to man-made creations, they passed over natural wonders such as Yosemite Valley, redwood trees and Big Sur. To keep the list geographically diverse, they kept it to one attraction per major metropolitan area. And because the Travel section ran the contest, industrial marvels were nixed, such as the California Water Project, which can’t readily be visited or toured.
What about Shasta Dam, you say? Should San Francisco’s cable cars have beat out the Golden Gate Bridge? And how about Hollywood, world capital of film? It’s man-made and unique, for sure.
The following list is from the Sacramento Bee and their comment was: "We know everyone won’t agree with our choices. So we’re asking you to nominate your favorites, sticking to the criteria outlined above. "
We know in Redding that the Sundial is a very special bridge and well worth a visit. Gorgeous in the day and gorgeous lit up at night. And what a unique venue for special events such as weddings and black tie dinners! Absolutely incredible.
